The Baby Deltic Project, a passionate volunteer-led team restoring one of Britain’s most iconic diesel locomotives, were preparing to exhibit at a major national event celebrating 200 years of trains. With the restored engine ready to showcase, the team realised they still needed professional information banners to tell their story and attract attention on the exhibition floor.
With just over a week to go, they put out a heartfelt request on social media for urgent design support. Squark Design was quickly recommended — and we were more than happy to step in.
The challenge was clear: to design, print and deliver three large, branded exhibition banners in record time, while helping the team define exactly what they needed along the way.
We began by contacting the team immediately to understand their vision, timeline and constraints. Working collaboratively, The Baby Deltic Project sent over copy and images, which we quickly transformed into striking, informative banner designs that captured the spirit of the project and the engineering excellence behind it.
A few swift refinements later, the final designs were approved and sent to print — all within the tight deadline. Every detail, from layout to colour balance, was designed to create maximum impact and ensure the stand proudly reflected the passion behind the restoration.
The banners were delivered on time, on budget and ready for display, giving The Baby Deltic Project a professional, engaging presence at one of the railway industry’s biggest celebrations.
Their exhibition stand attracted great attention, helping them share their story with visitors and fellow enthusiasts while enhancing the visibility of their restoration project.
