With each issue covering a variety of content and a growing number of advertisers and local contributors, the magazine required a designer who could manage the full editorial design process — from initial planning to final artwork. It was essential to ensure each issue felt consistent, professional and full of personality, while also evolving the layout to keep it fresh and engaging for returning readers.
Working closely with the magazine’s editor, we helped shape the overall structure and visual identity of Families Cambridgeshire. My role included:
– Flat planning each issue to ensure balanced content flow
– Creating flexible and stylish templates that allowed editorial and advertising to sit cohesively
– Designing page layouts that were clear, vibrant, and family-friendly
– Making quick turnarounds and regular updates to meet tight print deadlines
Over the course of a few years, we became a trusted part of the production team, ensuring the magazine maintained a strong visual standard issue after issue.
